The Slice cutting board by Jonathan Fundudis & David Holgreaves

In the area of cutting boards there’s not much to say. They all basically look the same and the only variations are related to color, size or material. But even the smallest improvement can prove to be extraordinary. It has never been clearer. Just take a look at the Slice cutting board. The Slice cutting board was designed by Jonathan Fundudis & David Holgreaves and it’s not that much different from a regular cutting board.

The innovation rests in its shape. By simply removing two mirrored, wedge shapes from either side of the board its functionality was greatly enhanced. This basically changes everything. The new shape allows the user to easily lift the board and to have a better grip thanks to the missing portion. Not only that, but the sliced food can be much more easily and safely funneled in only one movement.

The missing portion leaves an edge behind and this prevents the sliced pieced to fall from the board. The design is simple and visually appealing and it allows the Slice cutting board to easily fit in any kitchen environment. This time the changes didn’t came in the form of choice of material or color as the cutting board is made of wood, the most commonly used material for this type of product and it has a natural color.
